Recording an album is a big achievement. You pour days worth of time into the song writing, recording and arrangement to get them just right. The mixing and mastering of your album is the next crucial step in getting your album to sound fresh and professional.

Amateur VS Professional Mixing & Mastering

Amateur mixing and mastering? Well, it can turn your musical gem into something a bit, well, less shiny.

Issues like muddled frequencies, unbalanced levels, or an overall lack of clarity can tarnish the very essence of your music.

Professional album mixing and mastering? It’s night and day in comparison. It is the secret sauce that brings out the best in your tracks, making sure they’re cohesive, polished, and ready to blow minds. It will take the album you thought you were making to a whole new level whilst keeping the heart and essence of you songs intact.

Sound’s like hype?

“Wow! Your work speaks volumes of the effort and thought you put into our music. We absolutely love what you’ve done!” Garth, “New Fifty” (multiple EPs mixed and mastered)

“Working with Luke felt like a true partnership. His creative suggestions and collaborative approach turned our songs into something truly special. I highly recommend Banana Llama Studios.” Joel, “cadence&eli” (EP mixed and mastered as well as extra production and bass recorded)

“The mix sounds great, you are the MAN! You’ve brought a lot more fullness to the song, which is awesome to me, because that’s the whole reason I was looking for you. When my partner heard the drums she made this face 😮” Jordan “Solo Coyotes” (On getting back the first test mix and master of an album)

“I was hoping that you are available to do the basses, mix and master the album, like before. Could you fit me into your busy schedule please, Luke?” Marthe, “Cōdae” (multiple albums mixed and mastered as well as additional finishing production and recording)

Hopefully the testimonials above and the before and afters give you an idea of how I like to work. I want to partner with you to get the absolute best out of the songs and recordings you’ve made for your album.

With over 20 years of experience spanning across Australia and the United States, I bring a wealth of genre-specific expertise to the table. I want to ensure your album isn’t just mixed and mastered but transformed into an extraordinary journey.

Well Crafted Mixes True To Your Vision

I take pride in crafting mixes and masters that retain the essence of your music while elevating it beyond what you hoped it would sound like.

With a degree in music composition, I bring a unique perspective to the process. I give you musical, genre specific mixes which are then mastered to sound commercially viable whilst keeping the integrity of the mixes.

Finishing Production & Recording Services

I can also bring other skills to the table to make your songs bloom. Whether it’s tightening up arrangements or contributing additional parts, I’m here to partner with you. I want to draw the very best out of your album whilst respecting your original vision.

A Mixing & Mastering Process Tailored To Your Album

How will we do this?

  1. We kick off with a 30-minute video call where we delve into your album’s vision. Your expectations and insights are pivotal to the process.
  2. Once the details are ironed out, we move to file transfers and finalizing the investment for the mixing and mastering service.
  3. The actual mixing and mastering process is where the magic happens. But it doesn’t end there! I’ll offer revisions until you are completely satisfied.

What Genres Do You Mix & Master?

I comfortably work with an array of genres, including rock, alternative rock, country, pop, alt-pop, electronic pop, and folk. If your project falls outside these categories, I’m still keen to chat and explore the possibilities for your music.

What Tools Do You Use For Mixing & Mastering?

In the studio, I rely on Logic Pro X for mixing and mastering. With a hybrid in-the-box and outboard gear approach, I utilise the tools that ensure the best results for your music.

If you’re working in Logic Pro X or GarageBand it’s super simple to send me projects. If you’re working in Pro Tools, FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase or another DAW we’ll work out the best way for you to send me your project files to mix.

Mixing & Mastering Prices

Let’s stop for a second and recalibrate. Professional mixing and mastering isn’t a cost, it’s an investment. Why is this important? If you are driven purely by the cost, you’ll under invest in something that you’ve invested a whole lot into already. Enough said …

My mixing and mastering fees are structured as a flat rate based on the number of individual tracks in your project. Additionally, there’s a 10% discount on album mixing and mastering. This discount often means one of your songs is mixed and mastered for free.

Test The Waters

If we haven’t worked together before, I recommend having one song mixed and mastered. This lets you test the waters before committing to the album. If you decide to proceed, you’ll still get the mixing and mastering discount on the whole album including the first song.

Pay As You Go

If you’re an unknown artist releasing an album in today’s streaming ecosystem, you’re probably better off releasing a majority of the album as singles over a 6 to 8 month period. To accommodate this and help make the investment of mixing and mastering an album more manageable, I offer a song-by song fee structure.
